A 24-story tower block was engulfed in a terrifying blaze leaving some people trapped, some injured and multiple dead. The severity of the fire was so high that it has taken all night to control (from approx 1am and mostly put out by 9am). With a recently new cladding installed to modernize the exterior of the block, it is assumed that this may be the core contributor to the blaze spreading so quickly and as big as it did.
A structural engineer is currently monitoring the buildings stability to ensure fire crews are safe to enter. The London ambulance service said on twitter that “We have now taken over 50 patients to five hospitals across London“.
