Abandoned Drag Strip Re-opening

Windy Hollow Speedway

After closing in October 2017, Windy Hollow announced in December on there website that they will be re-opening for 2018.

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of allll ages…

To end rumors and ease your mind, Windy Hollow Speedway WILL be open for 2018.”

However, this was only ever going to be a temporary thing. When they announced the end of racing season in October last year, they stated that ” It is now time for us to refresh and rejuvenate”. Great news for petrol heads.

One response to “Abandoned Drag Strip Re-opening”

  1. I remember hearing that a lot of great drag racers used to do match races at Windy Hollow Dragstrip back in the 1970s- Raymond Beadle & The Blue Max, “Jungle Jim” Liberman, Big Daddy Don Garlits, Gene Snow, “Mongoose” McEwen, Ace McCullough are just a few of the names I’ve heard from locals that used to attend the races.

Guy that ran a billiards hall in my hometown used to race a pair supped-up muscle cars in the pro-stock elimination class there back in, if I remember correctly, 1973-1978. He a lot of stories to tell.
