A sinkhole, measuring 8 metres in diameter opened up in a backyard of a property in Ipswich, Queensland on Tuesday. A cause to the appearance of the sink hole may be related to an old mine shaft (Hence the street name ‘Coal Street’). The overwhelming presence of water is due to the Bremer River, approximately a 1 minute walk from the property.
