Batman Begins is a 2005 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. It is the first installment of the Batman film series and a reboot of the Batman franchise.

The movie was directed by Christopher Nolan, who co-wrote its screenplay with David Goyer, and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film reboots the Batman franchise by telling the origin story of Bruce Wayne from his initial fear of bats to his eventual fight against Ra’s al Ghul and turn to crime fighting as a masked vigilante.
